What is Tesla?

Tesla is an automobile company that strives to create the next best electric car. Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers with the goal to make the electric car as normal as a gasoline one.

The founders also wanted to make electric cars more fun than gasoline ones so consumers would be more likely to drive them. Currently, Tesla builds electric cars as well as clean energy generators and storage units.

The company’s name is a tribute to the late inventor Nikola Tesla. Nikola Tesla was best known for discovering the properties and characteristics of rotating electromagnetic fields. He is known in history for his contributions to the science and electrical engineering contributions.

Tesla Car Models

Within the past few years, Tesla has created and produced a number of car models. Below we have outlined past, present, and future cars from the company.

The Tesla Roadster

The Roadster is the first electric car produced by Tesla Motors. This was the first entirely electric car on the market.

The Roadster had practical specifications so it could meet the needs of those driving it. The idea behind this was to also appeal to consumers that would usually buy a gas-powered car to see that electric cars can provide them with the same specifications and be safer for the planet.

This car was the first electric car that could keep a charge while hitting highway speeds. The first model in 2008 could travel up to 250 miles on a single charge. The acceleration speed was comparable to other sports cars on the market.

The standard lithium-ion battery in the car could be charged through any wall outlet within 48 hours. The price range on this car is what didn’t make it a common household name. The Roadster retailed for a little over $100,000.

Model S Sedan

The Model S Sedan was created to be cheaper than The Roadster so it could be more accessible to consumers. Tesla projected that the Model S would retail for a fraction of The Roadster at around $76,000 CAD.

Tesla gained public attention when they unveiled the Model S prototype in 2011. The car had a luxury feel that a mainstream market could obtain.

Overall the Model S was successful. It received numerous awards from environmental and automotive outlets. It also proved that electric cars were achievable and could be used by the modern consumer.

Unlike The Roadster, the Model S could go 300 miles on a single charge. The battery also took less time to recharge. Due to the success of the sedan, Tesla discontinued The Roadster to focus on sedan electric cars.

Tesla Model 3 Sedan

In 2016 the new Tesla electric vehicle was unveiled, the Model 3 Sedan. Unlike the Model S that was marketed to people who valued luxury, the Model 3 would be geared towards a mainstream market.

Tesla Model 3 Review

The price of the Model 3 fell below $70,000, making it cheaper than any other car Tesla produced in the past. The Model 3 comes with all-wheel drive and can go up to 165 mph.

On a single charge, the Model 3 can go 322 miles. With the fastest recharge time of any model produced, the Model 3 can charge 175 miles in just 15 minutes.

The car also comes with sensors on all sides, making safety a priority. A 15-inch touch screen is included to make navigation and playing music a breeze.

The Model X is an upcoming car from Tesla. If an order is placed today for the Model X you should receive it by the end of the year or beginning of the new year. The price tag for this car is around $80,000.

The Model X is bigger than the previous cars produced. This car can fit 7 people comfortably and can go 328 miles on a single charge. It’s Tesla’s first crack at an all-electric SUV.

The first thing someone will notice when looking at this car is the doors. The back doors on the Model X lift up and are called Falcon Wing Doors.

Just like the Model 3, charge time is fast. 170 miles can be charged onto the batter in just 15 minutes.

The Model X can go from 0 to 60 in 2.7 seconds, making it the fastest SUV on the planet. With a 5-star safety rating and AWD, this car is perfect for families that live in cold or warm weather.

Tesla Model Y

The Tesla Model Y Unveiling

Model Y is another upcoming car from Tesla. This car is another sedan that will have an AWD dual-motor and an estimated 300-mile range per charge.

This sedan is like the Model X due to its capacity to fit 7 people comfortably. This is due to the option of a fold up and down the third row.

When looking at the website it’s easy to see that the appeal of the Model Y is a sedan that can haul items. Since the seats can fold down and the trunk is easy to access, it will make moving and hauling items a breeze.

This is the first Tesla car to have traction control. Making it great for people who live in areas that see snow.

Tesla Cybertruck

The Cybertruck Unveiling!

Almost everyone has heard of the Cybertruck due to it being a viral sensation after it’s unveiling a few weeks ago. This is the first electric truck that has the utility of any truck on the market with the performance of a sports car.

Currently, you can place a pre-order for the Cybertruck, but a release date and price has yet to be determined.

When looking at the car it looks to be something out of a 1980s science fiction movie.  The exterior is made of a durable stainless steel shell that is designed for strength. The windows are even made of armored glass for ultimate protection.

The truck can pull up to 14,000 pounds and has a 100 cubic foot bed. It can fit six passengers comfortably and can drive on even the roughest of terrains.

The truck can go from 0 to 60 in less than 6.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest trucks in the world. It’s estimated that it can go 250 miles on a single charge.

Charging a Tesla

You know the ins and outs of Tesla’s car models, but what about charging them?

In the past few years, Tesla has been putting resources into crafting and placing charging stations around the world. These charging stations are known as Supercharger locations.

There are over 14,000 Supercharger locations in the world. Tesla says they are along the most traveled routes. If you’re having trouble finding one to charge your car or to just check out, try locating one through an app or on the Tesla website.

Tesla Energy

Tesla isn’t just in the market for creating the first electric cars, they are also trying to make products so your home can run on electricity too.

They currently make and sell solar power panels that you can place on your home. They even produce glass roofs that let you look up at the sky in your home while collecting energy to run it.

What’s unique about Tesla’s solar power is they provide a way for you to store and back-up the energy. This storage device is known as the Powerwall and can be turned on at night or during a power outage to power your home.

Tesla isn’t just limited to powering your house. They have plans for businesses and corporations to get on the clean energy boat too.

Now You Know the History and Future of Tesla

Since Tesla was founded in 2003, it has created vehicles out of a science fiction movie. Not long ago electric-powered vehicles were something of a dream, but Tesla took this dream and made it a reality a few short years after its founding.

You now know about the face of the company, Elon Musk, and how he rose to his position. Even before becoming the CEO he became the face of Tesla through social media and news outlets.

One of the biggest facts about Tesla is that they just don’t produce electric cars but they also create solar panels to run your home or business. This is something that is overlooked but is important in Tesla’s drive to create a greener Earth.
